On June 13 seventeen year old Elliott Harty crashed his motorcycle into a light standard on Barnet Highway, only a few minutes from his home. The next day, June 14, he passed away from life-threatening injuries. Elliott had been saving  money for over a year for a car but bought a bike because he couldn't afford a car. He only had his bike for 12 days when he crashed. Elliott was a charismatic talented young man who excelled in sports, piano, cooking, etc. My son was a friend of his as were many other young people. Many of the young people grieving the loss of their friend have never experienced such a loss. He was well-liked. An online support group started by his friends five days ago already has over 1000 members. His single mother, a friend of mine, is trying to cope with the loss of her only child. Being a single Mom of an only child myself it's painful to think of what she must be going through.

Please Help

I've enjoyed riding on the back of my boyfriend's Harley for the past 12 years which is as long as I've known Elliott. As a motorcycle fan and a single parent, I created this page to ask all riders out there to take a moment and think about how tragic this loss is for Elliott's Mom. If you're a parent, think about how much you care about your kid(s). The service for Elliott will be on Saturday June 23. Any donations received before then will be provided to Elliott's Mom from Riders for Elliott, to assist with the cost of the service.
